Donald Baan is Director Business Development, Marketing & Sales at Portbase, a non-profit organization that develops and manages the port community system of the Dutch ports. Portbase is widely regarded as one of the leading port community systems globally, connecting over 5,000 companies via digital services and infrastructure.
Donald, a logistics and tech-enthusiast, started his career in a commercial role at a container shipping line, followed by senior business development roles at the crossroads of logistics and IT at the Port of Rotterdam Authority before joining the leadership team of Portbase. In addition, he has been mentoring several startups via the PortXL acceleration program and is currently member of the advisory board of two organizations in logistics. Furthermore, Donald holds a Bachelor degree in Logistics and Economics, with a minor in Ports and Logistics and is a regular guest lecturer at a.o. Erasmus University Rotterdam
