Manuel Francisco holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Seville. He started his career at Airtel in 1998. In 2004, after the acquisition of Airtel by Vodafone, he was appointed Network Transmission Expert, being the first recognition of this type in the company.
In 2007, after a brief stint at MP Telecommunications as Technical Director, he was appointed Director of the Logistics Area of the Bay of Algeciras, being responsible for its development and customers management. He was also in charge of innovation and new technologies for the entire Andalusian Logistics Network. In 2015, he was elected Secretary General of the European Association of Logistics Platforms (Europlatforms) and since then he has represented the logistics areas in the EU Digital Logistics Development Forum DTLF and in UN forums related to transport and intermodality.
In 2018 he had the opportunity to combine logistics and telecommunications by becoming the Director of Technology at the Port of Huelva, a position he currently holds. At this stage, it is developing an ambitious digital transformation plan for the Port Authority of Huelva, with a new approach to applications, oriented towards data management and innovation. In this area, the creation of La Lonja de la Innovación, a port innovation node based on Fiware that enables the development of solutions that can be easily implemented in the port environment, stands out.
Manuel Francisco has continued his education throughout his working life, completing a master’s degree in Logistics and Port Management in 2012, an MBA in 2020 and is currently studying law degree.
