Jean-Pierre Piters holds dual roles as the Head of Design Centre for Automation & Digitalisation at Hutchison Ports and the General Manager Digital at Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam. In these capacities, he leads several global innovation initiatives aimed at unifying terminal automation and digitalisation efforts across the world’s leading port network.

Jean-Pierre has an engineering degree in Logistics Management and a degree in Maritime and Ports Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. With over 28 years of experience in container terminal automation, his career began at the Centre for Transportation Studies in Vancouver, Canada. He then moved to ECT in Rotterdam, where he started as an application engineer during the early days of terminal automation.

Throughout his career, Jean-Pierre has been involved in several Terminal Operating System (TOS) implementations and ECT’s hinterland strategy. He has managed ECT’s application support and development teams and continues to lead digital innovation initiatives in his current roles.
